HURST T-top install on a 76
« on: March 30, 2018, 05:21:53 PM »
I have had a Trans Am Hurst T-top donor roof for about 10 years now.
I finally decided to install the Hurst T-tops in my Trans Am.
it's a 76 Trans Am SE clone I do have the roof with all the hardware so I do have something to measure a reference.
just wondering if anybody has installed the Hurst T Tops.
I know these were all installed on hard tops after the factory.   I wish there was somebody in Michigan that could install it .  I'm sure back in the seventies they were everywhere .
I need advice on installing these myself.  Does anybody know where I can find instruction sheets for this? any comments any help would be appreciated
 thank you Jeff

If you have the car and you have the hurst roof, then you already have everything?? Since these were cut into hardtops as required, I'd be tempted to go that way rather than chop off an entire roof for the same result. Use it as a template after making sure t-tops and seals fit properly, and transfer it to your own, but do it neatly and not rushed like under factory conditions. The Fisher roof is the swap candidate, perhaps change that to has anyone cut Hurst tops into their car or done the swap? Only a thought, I don't have experience with any t-tops.

This guy is doing just that and cutting his painted roof to install t-tops.
