« on: August 14, 2010, 07:43:47 PM »

Gday,

our journey has begun.  We left home at 4.30am (15th August Sunday) our time to head to Melbourne airport for our first flight to Sydney, leaving at 7am.  We are currently in Sydney Airport awaiting for our 10.15am departure to LA.  Next post will be when we land in LA or New York depending on time.

Here's wishing you a good, comfortable flight and an EMPTY plane. That makes the flight SO much better when you can stretch out. Good luck dealing with customs at LAX though. Patience is the key.

Coming into LAX after 13 hour flight

Hi Guys
Well after walking out the front door of our house at 4.30 am,around the 30 hour mark later,we walked into the front door of the hotel in New York ;D
The flight from Sydney to LAX was a tad under 13 hours,we landed in LA at 6.30am (local time) went through customs (not as bad as i thought) then only had a few minutes to relax before boarding our 9am flight to New York, which took 4 hours 20 mins ( a few hours sleep). Rocked up at 5pm in New York local time and after some stuffing around via the shuttle bus we finally arrived at our hotel, which is only a few blocks from times square.
How close.... after walking one block to have dinner at an irish pub,we walked another block and this is what we saw

turns out the fire was a false alarm

Everything is big in NY

Glad to hear that you made it safe and sound, hope the jet lag hasnt been too unkind to you!!
