SNOWFLAKE WHEELS
« on: March 12, 2007, 05:41:05 AM »
I DO ALOT OF DRIVING FOR MY JOB AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO STOP AT MANY SALVAGE YARDS. I AM LOOKING FOR A SET OF 15X8 SNOWFLAKES FOR MY 78 T/A AND AM NOT HAVING ANY LUCK. I HAD ENOUGH OF THE E-BAY GAME AND WAS CHECKING TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS AN UNRESTORED SET AND LIVES WITHIN 150 MILES FROM ALBANY, NEW YORK. THANKS.

They are getting harder and harder to find.  I've been looking for a set to put on my father's '84 T/A that he is building and no luck yet.

I haven't seen a set go for less then $200 in awhile now. Expect to pay $400+ for a nice set on the general market, less if you find a Guy/Gal who has a set laying around in the shed gathering dust from a long ago abandoned T/A restoration project and they have no ideal what they have.  I got LUCKY 3 years ago and picked up a set of 5 15X8 inch Snowflake's for a $100 buck's......then he says "Do you want the Tire's too? You can have them for an extra $25 bucks" UMMMMMM lets see......5 15X8 Snowflakes + 4 Dunlop GT Qualifier's  (all but new)  for a Buck and a Quarter? Yeah I'll take'em  ;)  "Oh yeah...here don't forget the center cap's" I about busted my wrist getting my wallet out of my pocket  ;D

But Hey...Thats just Me..I could be Wrong

I usually pay about $275 - $300 for 15x8 inch snowflakes and about $100 - $125 for the 15x7 inch snowflakes.

When the salvage yard has them, they're $75 each for the 15X8, $35 for the 15X7.  But they are harder to find now.  Last time I was there...about a month ago, there was a 1978 15X8 lying in the dirt between two cars.  They did have two turbo's in the lot.  I bet those parts went fast.

I'M CONSIDERING MAKING THE TRIP TO CARLISLE (ALL GM) IN JUNE. WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF FINDING A SET THERE? IT'S ONLY A FIVE HOUR TRIP.

I'M ALWAYS LOOKING ON EBAY AND OFTEN SEE THEM FOR SALE. I'M JUST TRYING TO AVOID SHIPPNG COSTS. IT LOOKS LIKE I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE. THE GOOD NEWS IS I HAVE A NICE SET (CURB RASH FREE) 15X7 THAT I WILL SELL TO MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE.
THANKS FOR THE INFO ON CARLISLE AS WELL.
