Help Dash Lights

when i installed my new cd player
i lost dash lights
so i had to hook them up to the red wire which now they are always on when the key is on!!!!!
where should the dash wire be hooked to what color is not red i cannot fint it

sounds like you blew a fuse. Look in the fuse pannel for it... then make sure that the dimmer wire or ilummination wire (car harness) are not touching metal and are taped off ! I would never hook these 2 wires up... way to many problems.
