Anyone Made Their Own Body Dolly/Stand?
« on: September 04, 2013, 12:04:22 PM »
I am thinking I want to take the body off the frame of my 80 T/A and bring it into my shop so I can do all of the body work indoors.  I know for about $500 you can buy one, but has anyone made their own?  If so, how much did it cost you?    Thanks, Zak.

I bought an auto twirler for $900.

Looked at making my own and decided I'd rather just buy it and sell it when I'm done.

I like the idea of a rotisserie, but I'm young, so laying under a car doesn't kill me, and I can't justify spending almost $1,000 on just a tool that isn't "necessary."

I considered using the 'engine stand' set-up for a rotisserie and after doing the math, I bought tubing, some casters and after a few evenings, I now have a rotisserie. I even built a second one to do client's cars. Price? $350 each for materials. If I need to sell one I know I can get $700 a piece outta these. Handy to have and It really is a HUGE time saver and the quality of work you can do is remarkable.
