Thought I'd revive this thread for those of you that don't make it over to TAC much (where these pics are orignally posted).

My new 275/40ZR17 BFG g-Force T/A KDW tires have been mounted on my gold 17" YR1 Snowflakes... thought you all might like to see them (yes, I am a proud papa!) ;D

Nice, i like the one with the chrome face and gold insides. Any reason why you picked the 17'' over the other sizes?

Two reasons.

1) I think anything larger than 17s on a gen2 car looks looks out of proportion.  This is a personal choice, as I know a lot people are now running 18s & bigger... but to me it screws up the proportionality of the car overall and draws too much attention to the wheels at the expense of the rest of the car... it's all about balance.

2) 18s & bigger are quite a bit more expensive... and so are the tires to put on them!!!

Looking at the yearone site right now, 1 more inch = about $100 more.... I see your point :)

Nice!!! I wasn't sure about those wheels. They look really flat when they are on their own. But having the tires mounted really helps. And I think having the rotors behind them will make it even better. ;)

Thanks guys!  I know a lot of people only like the stock look, and I was like that too until I decided to build a gen2 car that's could handle like a gen4.  And in order to do that I needed some 17" ultra high-performance tires.

When I first started looking for 17" wheels though it was tough going because not a lot of things looked "right".  But when I saw the 18x9" version of these YR1 flakes on their first prototype BRE T/A I knew that the 17" version would foot the bill perfectly for my car.

They were not cheap, but they have the functionality I need, and IMO will really put the finishing touch on what I hope will be a nice resto-mod Y81 SE that can handle like my old 97 WS6.

Boy those look really pretty and man, such a big difference when you compared them side by side with the factor rim.  I can't wait to see your car finished (although I will be insanely jeolous)!
