Greenbird76------
I have 2 Ball Python's.
Both are about 3 1/2'------ they will not eat dead rodents.
Both still eat fat mice. I change up their eating.
I have them on random (like natural) feeding.
If they go over 3 weeks with out me feeding them - I will only feed each a single mouse.
Then wait 5-7 days then give them multiple mice.
I had a Ball Python years and years ago that was about 5 1/2' (max size).
It too, would not eat dead rodents.
I feed that one 2- 3 medium rats per month.
Had to get the rats dizzy before feeding. Otherwise, the rats would bite and chew at the snake if the strike/constrict wasn't full on.
Really strange how docile the Ball Python's really are.

-
My two horses were not really rescues but from Owners who could no longer care for them.

I actaully work in veterinary. Do not overfeed your snakes. They do very well a feeding every 3-4 weeks. The wierd weather up here has mine all screwed up. He is usually hibernating right now and doing so for about 4-5 mos a year. But he is still stirring. I go through periods where he will not eat dead stuff and I will by no means feed him a live 250 gram rats- The snakes skin is very frail and will tear easily and they are very prone to infection. I have fed him a few large mice this winter but nothing more. spring is around the corner and so is the humidity and that is when his appetite should change again. Ball pythons are such fussy animals when it comes to feeding. I really did not want a snake, but we in the vet industry really have no place to put them and they usually end up being euthanized. I rescued mine from a friend who could no longer keep him. That was 12 years ago and he was only about 15 inches then. I keep my snake in a 75 tall which you see in the picture. They also can be great escape artists so keep your cage or enclosure latched well

This is my new puppy Marley. Just got him from a friend who was moving to an apt. and couldnt keep him.

I have a 5-6 foot ball python. Exotics are cool. My snake should be around for another 20 years or so. My brother had a Rosy Barb Tarantula when we were growing up. It was all black with these tiny red hairs or barbs all over it.
-
Ya I caught it at my Dads place(Miss You Dad!) and wanted to get my son another one ever since his last one died after about 5 years!
-
My brother would go into NYC and buy his spiders and scorpions or whatever exotic he thought was cool at the time. this was back in the late 80's and early 90's

A bag of dog food doesn't last very long around here. 11 dogs currently. Two blueticks, two walkers, five bluetick walker crosses, one basset hound, and one cow dog. The coondogs are just that. I hunt coon most every night in the summer and Mt. lion and bobcat in the winter. The crosses are from my old retired walker male and my bluetick female. Planned the cross so I could get two pups for myself and had "friends" that wanted the rest. Friends all backed out so here I am with three extra. At this point I'll just train the pups then sell. The Basset is the old overweight mascot of the joint. The wife's dog but I still get her out once in a while to chase a few cottontails around. The cowdog just helps herd the long horns around when they get belligerent.
The wife is also a horse nut so I am stuck feeding six horses. Five quarter and one arabian. We don't get out and ride as much as we used to. Time seems to be in short quantity these days.

We have a black lab x hunterway, the hunterway is a cattle/sheep working dog used extensively on farms in New Zealand.
We bought our dog with us from new Zealand when we imigrated or at least I imigrated my wife is originly from the US Missouri.
She is awesome company, very smart and takes good care of us, as we do her.
We live full time in our RV here and travel a lot which she loves, she also loves the wide open spaces and is used to farms.
Although not formally trained she can heard, but mostly tend to heard ducks, as she did this when we were breading them.
Cheers

I had to euthanize my cat on Monday. I am a certified veterinary tech with 18 years experience and take the loss of my critters quite hard at first( crazy right?). Her name was Mashapaug named after the town in Massachusetts she was found in. She was 20 years, yes 20. I had her for 18 of them. That cat, like the rest of my past critters will always be in my heart!
