Title: Wiper motor relay, fuse, resistor???

I only have the high setting on wiper motor.  Frank replaced the motor, new, and put the original switch back in, and still no low speed or pulse.

Got another switch from California yesterday, and Frank installed that, and STILL we only have the high setting.

I have people say it could be the relay, or the resistor, or a fuse under the dash.

Where are these things located?  Under the dash?  Where?  Resistor? Relay?

We need to get this fixed this weekend before we leave for the Bandit Run on Wed.  If not........guess I have to buy a couple of bottles of Rain X! LOL

There is no relay, just a rhetoric resistor in the switch for pulse wipers

It's inside the pulse switch, it's unserviceable

Guess I am getting some Rain X for the time being!  This STINKS!!!

I do however APPRECIATE all of your help!!  I think Frank is lost on this one.

Are you sure the new motor is the right one? The pulse motors are the same through 1979 on the TA's. In 1980 the motors are different, so if you got an 80+ motor, it won't work right.

Otherwise, since you tried 2 switches with no difference, I would suspect the motor and try another one, if you're sure the wiring is connected properly. 

Rain-X does work pretty good. Not as good when going slow as going fast though.

Heidi, there are (2) different wiper motors for a 78 - one with pulse, one without. On mine, the wipers didn't seem to work even with a new wiper motor, washer pump, and wiring. Mine are the pulse style, and the pulse wiring needed to be cleaned to get them to work according to Tom at MCA. The pulse wiring needs to be moved from the old motor to the new as it wasn't included with the new motor. So I'd start there first.

Then, since the car is 30+ years old, it's entirely possible the wiper switch is shot and the replacement (assuming you got it from a chain store - Autozone, Advance, etc) could possibly be bad. I'd try another switch to be on the safe side there.

BTW: If it were a fuse, your wipers wouldn't work at any speed ;)
