Hood scoop and double baffle valve covers
« on: November 24, 2007, 10:41:01 PM »
This is the hood scoop I chose to restore for my car.

It's stamped 549533.

Got a little clean up to do in the ring area.

I chose it because the rear vents were still original in appearance

Double baffle valve covers.   I mentioned these some time back.  The ones I used on the engine are single baffle.

After spending all day stripping and sanding, this is where I'm at.   How long does a complete restoration take?  Will I live long enough?

Well...by the time I've ever finished any significant amount of body work, I find I have NO fingerprints left... 8) 8) ;)

It got painted.   Then I found a hair in it.  So it got stripped again.........   ;D   Which is fine, because after I painted it, I wished I had put a skim coat of bondo over it.......

Ouch.  I feel your pain.  However, the willingness to "do over" until you reach perfection is a great learning tool and nobody can argue that you don't get a result that's far superior to "good enough first time" efforts. :D ;)

There were some imperfections in the surface of the scoop that didn't really show up until the black was on it.  Then they stood out like sore thumbs.  I just could have done better.................
