I mentioned the coil wires because chevy coils have yellow and red wires and pontiac coils have white and red wires
These cars are so old anything could be wrong parts wise

Also check to make shure your harmonic balancer hasn't slipped when you are  checking the timing

I checked the balancer when i set the dist. and at TDC on #1 the timining mark is at zero.  I also checked the coil and my wires are red/white.  Hopefully I'll have time to install a new one tonight.  If that fixes it I'll ship you a warm beer.
