Topic: 1976 Trans Am T Tops 400 Auto

What would you pay for this 1976 Trans Am w/ 77k miles on it. If I am reading the production number correct there were only 533 of these produced. Like I said what would you pay or what would you think this is worth? As you can see could use some TLC but in overall good condition. Runs strong too! Thanks in advance for any insight you may provide in determining a realistic value for the TA.

Family member is selling and I may consider buying it, but I am not a car guy so have no idea where to even start to look for a price on these. I did check ebay completed auctions and found no 76's w/ T Tops that come up. Basically looking for what you guru's would consider for the these three options.

1. Good price to buy and turn a profit with out creating issues with family member's feeling ripped off

2. Price I could expect to get if I listed on eBay as is

3. Price and suggestions on what changes you would do that easily increase the value and what is the max value they or I could get if these changes were made prior to selling it.

I believe the 533 production number is the LE 50th anniversary car, which this one is not, or does not appear to be. My guess is someone had the dealer add them to the car either new or aftermarket. As far as value, probably less than a comparable 77. I know a recent 50th anniversary with t tops and 4 speed recently listed on ebay from a Toyota dealer (I spoke to them) and they were asking $16,000 on the lot and it sold before ebay listing was complete. I may be way off but I would think $8500 depending on how it looks in person maybe more maybe less. Standard interior, no decals, aftermarket wheels, maybe an oil leak seeing whats under the car, maybe a seam split in driver seat

I was questioning weather it was an LE as well. The dash appears to be a goldish look to it...but the t-top frames and the T-tops themselves don't have the black annodised surround. Of course the lack of stripes is a hint as well. PHS would tell the story, but I don't it is justified before the sale here. Would be a nice thing to have afterwards.

I think $8000-$9000 would be fair, but thats my 2 cents.

Dash is silver and what other info or pics would be needed to evaluate the true value?

rust is your enemy. Look under car, behind rear bumper at tail panel, dash corners, rockers, etc... looks like a nice car. Get it cheap and flip it to me

That clean survivor T/A is easily a $14-15k car here in Socal. Fix the oil leak and detail the engine bay and the value goes up too. The cowl tag will reveal if it's a true 50th Anniversary T/A- only the LE editions with the 455 and 4-speed fetch top dollar BTW.

Also found a set of 4 of these in the attic does this shed more light on model and more importantly do they add value. Thinking of having a professional go through the engine and have it professionally detailed and listing it on eBay.

Also found out that this card did have the bird and other decals(trans Am across the rear spoiler) but they were removed when the car was keyed at local car show several years ago and repainted.

Base TA with air and t-tops as the only options in that condition I'd say about $5000-$7500 depending on the rot.  If it wasn't repainted and even if the factory paint was bad &8-$9k or even higher.

I would think the original honeycombs add some value. Those look like the original tires too.

I'm seeing a $5000-$7500 max base .
Lot of flaws to try to get closer to the 10K mark.
I have to wonder what's under the paint and the condition of the entire floor and frame rails.
It's a nice T/A and those honeycombs belong on it, not the classics .
