Fuel Tank Question

I have a new fuel tank for my 78.  Right now it is bare metal, my question is should it stay that way, or did the factory paint them a particular color?

factory left bare metal, but i paint them a silverish to look like bare metal, eastwood makes a color called "tank tone" that mimicks original apperance
