1976 Firebird hertz rent a car er' budget rent a car
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:03:12 PM »

here is what the wheels look like.

under hood pic, yeah its dirty, but it has been 3 years since i touched it, will wash underneath this weekend
ok here is my 76 hertz rent a car firebird espirit, it has been a slow restoration 6 years thus far but this winter she is getting finished, had to get rid of the wife to do it, I am in the process of building a 400 6x head engine with ross 9.5 to 1 pistons, comp cam 276 hydraulic roller, edelbrock performer rpm, hooker super comps, etc... ws6 suspension with 2:73 disc brake rear, turbo 400 and much more...every part has been either replaced or redone including every bolt nut and washer.. all parts except the original body are trans am pieces from an 80 ws6 car and a 76 ....i know lower gears will make it quicker but its not a drag car it is a cruiser for the highway looking for the unsuspecting late model corvette or mustang... i was a crew chief on a super gas/ super comp drag car for 5 years... and i didnt want this car to be another 1/4 mile missile...once i get it running and the bugs worked out i have a 700r4 waiting in the wings for those really high speed jaunts. and yes it was a hertz rent a car i have some documents that came with the car.

Was it really a Hertz rent a car? That must be a rare bird indeed. I dunno if I would build it as a TA...........If you want a REAL wolf in sheeps clothing I'd put it back, externally, as an Esprit. Don't let em know your intentions untill it's FAR FAR too late for them to keep their hard earned cash ;D

I dont know what brand the wheels are i do know the style on the center cap says 562 i bought an s-10 a couple years ago and the wheels were on it i sold the truck and kept the wheels about a month ago, figured i would use them to get the car running. i found them once when i was looking for center cap bolts about a year ago but now i can't seem to locate the manufacturer. I will keep looking and post if i find it. I will have more pics this weekend.
