Pypes exhaust systems

Anyone have experience installing the Pypes exhaust systems. I have a 79 TA and am trying to decide which one to go with. Also, can the average garage mechanic install these systems without much altering?

I installed the 3" system with dumps on my 77.  I modified the front portion to fit up more into the tunnel for better ground clearance.  The fit of the mufflers and pipes rearward over the axles is very good.  I did modify the exit to allow for the chrome tail splitters in the stock location.
If you have a serious street engine, a 3" system is awsome, and has a very serious sound (quite loud depending on muffler selection).
Most street setups can go with the 2-1/2 " system with the crossover and their street pro mufflers.
I installed all of mine on my back in my garage  with some serious welding modifications to maximize ground clearance for the wide open dumps (use electric solenoids) - not easy, but do-able.

Thanks all for the comments.  I have been working on this thing for about 4 summers, and finally got it finished last month.  I live in Macomb, and will start doing the cruise circuit after I get classic car insurance, since I have some serious coin and labor into it.  Woodward cruise for sure.  The "snorkel things" are brake cooling duct intakes - I took a pair of chrome oval exhaust tips, turned them around, hung them under the front closeout, and run 2-1/4" hose to the rotor backing plates.  This is an old Herb Adams trick where you cut out a hole in the backing plate and weld in a angle cut piece of exhaust pipe, and connect a hose.  So I got some cool SSBC brakes when standing on the brake pedal.

Great looking car, but back to the original question. Can an AVERAGE garage mechanic install the exhaust WITHOUT major cutting, bending, and welding? Or, what have the any of you done to get a true duel exhaust installed? No muffler shop around here will install an exhaust without the cat converter.

yes there is some cutting required for the the pypes system but a sawzaw will cover that, unless you want some clean straight cuts which arent alwasy obtainted with the sawzaw then buy yourself an exhaust pipe cutter....after that its a clamp together installation.....i reccommend the band clamps as they dont mess up and crimp everything together....so if you ever decided to switch out mufflers or install converters its extremely easy....

So far, I've made 6 cuts to "adjust" the system...Still got to put the hangers on.
