Alright guys promised pics of her.
here she is.
Remember she has had a very hard life.
Theft, then fire damage from vandalizm and also fire dept damage with an axe
but she's been in the process of revival for almost 15 sloooooooow years now
fender and hood were replaced due to mr axe man damages along with the nose since they couldnt figure out how to open the hood.

Well I dont think theres anything you can't fix Rick ,well maybe your obssesion for T/A's?
I can't wait to see her restored to her former glory
-
,some day buddy some day. it was torn apart for a very long time and finally was able to start again about 2 years ago for the first time in ages. and for the very first time today i moved it about 6 inches. i need to take it for a spin and see how it does
-
Good luck with her Rick! I know the love for a Y88!
-
That looks nice Bro. Glad you got it back. I wish I could find either of mine. Wait.....they are Michigan cars. I probably dont wanna see em now.
-
lol this poor girl has been a michigan car. just with a hard hard life. she spent 3 years outside 2 of which were uncovered so there are some rust issued to tend to but not many.
-
Cool! Good luck with her!
-
looks nice and solid, shouldn`t be too bad to resto, glad you got her back
the fire dept just axed it for nothing imo
dont need a hood pull if you have the jaws of life
-
Nice too see her back home Rick..Where she belong's, Keep her on a short leash.
-
this time i plan on it. I will sell my other cars /trucks before i let it go. but i wouldnt sell it to anyone aside from my uncle because i knew some day i'd get it back. with him now moving to tx thats not going to be that easy so im going to just have to make sure its safe here at all times.
-
Good to see you got her home safe Rick.
Cant wait to see your progress in returning this beauty back to her former glory!
Looks like you have a long but enjoyable road ahead.
1 more Y88 saved...... a win for the good guys!
-
yes sir its a long road but not too long as long as I work on it. dont know exactly when i will start on it but once i do, should take a year or so to finish it. dont know if im going to tear it back down and nut & bolt the thing or not yet. either way in the end, it should be fun. it would be cool to have two finished se's but considering letting the 71 go and maybe the 77 go to get this guy done and done right again. but i think the 71 needs to go as its just killing space and could free up some spending cash on the car.

In my book

I gotta say you are going to have one bad@ss collection of T/A's when your done restoring them all .WIsh I had your talent and ambiton ,as this old age is killing me
-
my buddy wrecked his 69 chevelle and the fire dept cut the car all up for no reason, well they cut him out then kept going for no reason
-
damn dude, that's hardcore!
good to hear you got it back, i'm on my way to michigan on wed so i'll probably give you a call thursday or so
i got that SEM texture coating finally, not sure if I will have time to do my interior pieces before I come up, but I'll bring it with me and I'll just do it up there
-
cool and bill just to let you know thursday's are my worst days well until after 8pm. give me a shout man
-
How WOULD you go about fixing the axe wounds on her? Cut out the rippled metal and weld new in?
Gunner
-
congrats rick, glad to see she made it back to you
-
She looks good Rick, and she's in the right hands!! With your talent, she will look great before you know it! 8)
Keep us posted on your progress!! :D
-
would there not be some weak sheet metal from the heat of the fire ?
-
the fire wasnt that bad more the drivers seat and door panel area and then alot of firedepartment damages. as far as the axe wounds they are already dollied up and welded shut. the drivers quarter i am thinking about just replacing though the axe marks are just in a bad spot and someone (at gm) patched the front section of the quarter before it ever left the factory
-
Rick - no problem, I figured I'd swing by sometime before this weekend cause me and my girl are going to go camping this weekend....
btw, do you happen to know the best overall camp site to go to, more rustic, i'm former infantry and in northern new york when you aren't deployed, all there is to do is camp off in the middle of the woods right on a lake, Id like to find a sweet spot up around there that has either lake access for swimming and view or a good creek or river that I can camp right on..
-
up in hesperia there is national forest area you can only tent it out there. Great private area pines point camp ground is near that. about an hour to hour and a half north of me off of m82 and maple island area. thats a pretty good place. i think its manistee national forest either way there is no ranger and no fee's just two track it in find your spot and set up. no cell service there either so it makes it that much cooler.
-
congrats Rick , the Y88 looks like a keeper. as already stated . your working on a very nice collection of birds.
-
I'm a little late to the party Rick but I excited for you!!!!
Wow back home...right on!!
-
surprisingly my cousin has taken it well that this will not be his first car either. with the 77 being such a beeeeotch to me lately im considering stuffing plates on the car for the summer and tearing the 77's motor right out.
-
Congrats Rick on getting your baby back.I am sure it will be a beautifil car when you get it finished.I always liked the Y88's.If I didn't have to many projects now I would probably still be looking for one myself.
-
Congrats on getting your car back rick! I bet its nice to have your long lost pall back. Cant wait to see it done!!
-
May I ask how the fire started?
-
t/a tommy glad to see you posting on here
