Whatever color you decide on, Personally, I would make some padded covers that would velcro on, in vinyl or whatever you choose.  Not real thick or bulky.  I had a pro street Camaro, and this was the best thing I did to that car.  Between banging my knees getting out, having to repaint all the time from scratches, not to mention them getting hot from the sun (mine were black), sure made a difference.  Wait till ya slide her sideways then catches traction and wacks you into them.  Been there, done that.  Very nice looking car you have there, and safe...

You can actually use some thick black foam pipe insulation...hardware store sold by the foot.  ;)

Thanks rad400, Its a .030 over 400 (406) #4 6X heads, Comp 292H cam, Holley street dominator intake, Edl 750 carb. The heads need to come off for a port and mill, but Im holding off till i get the interior back together. Its also a 4 speed car with the 3.23 rear.
I do like your idea toquik of padding the roll bar, I dont think I could get in it without scratching the bars all up. Ill have to look into the pipe insulation from the hardware, prob cheaper than padding from Summit?

You could also look at a full line sporting goods store.  We bought foam padding with a rubber coating for our soccer goal posts.  It may be a little more durable that standard plumbing insulation; although heavier too.

You could probably find a vinyl that has foam on the back side.  Then all you have to do is cut it to the correct dimensions and sew some velcro onto it so you can remove them whenever you want.  Pipe insulation is inexpensive, but does not wear well after climbing over it alot.

That's a very good idea...make a vinyl sleeve to velcro around whatever padding you choose to use.
