Excellent repair Frank...Please let us know what method you used. I have one small area and I just put a mat over the top for now...but I hate the mat!

well when I talked to Frank the other night, he said he used a bondo method, using plastic filler.... I did almost the same with mine, and you will lose your original grain, but with mine I used a padded dash filler... which stays flexible.... I reccomend that way as the heat and sun have started to play a role in the expansion and contraction.... if I would have spent a little more time on it, it probablly would have been better... but I am getting a new dash.

by the way great job Frank.... even though I have already told you

Ut oh Evan.............you mean we will have issues?  The grain looks pretty close if not exact to what was there.

no you shouldnt, at least not for awhile.... the heat could affect it eventually, but you will most likely be ok, my dash was much much worse...

Hey, Glad to see this thread come back up. I had forgotten about it. I sure hope Frank will share about the radio hole opening. I have a dash I'd love to try and fix but it too has the cut out radio hole. The work Frank did looks superior. The first couple of pics looks like my dash...the radio holes are all ratted out and chewed up. LOL

Not sure how he did this, but  I plan to repair my dash using a hot glue gun and plastic filler sticks to fill and level any very deep areas of the foam to just shy of the surface.  Then I will use a product called  Padded Dash Filler. http://www.urethanesupply.com/Padded-Dash-Filler-1/ to level out the surface and sand it back like bondo.
The entire dash will need to be sanded as you will need to replace the texture in the areas anyway.  3M makes an excellent texture spray that closely matches the factory dash and surrounding textures.  Adhesion is KEY and so proper cleaning and prep.............3M has all the products and matching interior paint ready mixed up.  Don't forget adhesion promoter for the paint as this is why paint often fails on the dash. Everything will run you about $70.  Much of the stuff can be used to repair plastic panels inside as well.

This is the basic idea of the process most likely used here.  I will do a training video when I get to it as I see it could be helpful.
