81 Trans Am Fuel Gauge Not Working. Reading past Full. Please help

Hello friends. Wondered if anyone would know what would cause the fuel gauge on my 81 Trans Am to bury the needle past the full mark. This car had been in storage for several years but appears to have been well preserved in someones garage. Would anyone know of a common problem associated with this situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the ground wire.  If it's been sitting for some time it could be a corroded connection or missing altogether.

if I recall the test, if you ground the wire at the sender and gauge goes full the sender is bad
