Topic: 1979 formula rear ends,are they all possi in the 403 olds or not.

I need to know if the formulas came with the possi rear in the 1979 wiith the 403 olds motor's.

  CAN you circle the area to make it easier for me to clean with wire brush.

Maybe you didn't look in the right place for the code. It's on the front of the passenger side axle tube. They are stamped in the metal about in the middle of the tube. A cleaning of the front of the tube may be needed. And a light sanding with some 180 grit sandpaper can make them more visible. A magnifying glass and a flashlight really helps too.

why not just lift the rear and turn the wheels to see if its a posi ? both wheels turn in same direction = posi, one wheel each direction = open rear

sorry to side track your question with a question but A posi is allways used in a WS6 package isnt it ?

Posi was not part of the WS6 package. So a T/A would have it because it is standard in a T/A. A Formula would have to be optioned with posi, WS6 or not.
