Trans Am Specialties and 78ta.com Open House
Thursday Night, August 24th 6:00pm til 11:00pm
Here is the Offical Notice of the Trans Am Specialties open house on Thursday Night, August 24th. We will be having an open house/cook-out/Carvan that night. Bring your cars and your appetite to this event. This will be a fun time to get together with other Trans Am owners from the East Coast and chat about their cars. We will be doing a cook-out with hamburgers and hotdogs and the World Famous Jelly Meatballs from Tin Indians. Then the best part, the next morning we will all caravan down to the Trans Am Nationals that Friday morning. Right now, I have about 13 Trans Am from my Ohio Firebirds Club that will be heading down to the Nationals that Friday morning at 8:30am. Imagine if we could get another 13 cars or more from the Eastern Seaboard to go as well.
We had mentioned this briefly before, but now is the Official invitation to come by and check out other Trans Ams, enjoy Jelly Meatballs, and have one hell of a caravan down to the Nationals. I need to know how many people are interested in doing this. Please respond to this message with a yes or a no if you will be able to attend. I have plenty of hotels within a two miles radius of my shop so there will be plenty of places to stay for the night and head down the next morning. Please let me know by posting to this forum so that I can plan on how many cars will be attending.
-
I would love to make it, but thats a little to far. Besides the car is a work in progress right now.
Maybe next year.
-
I will not be at the Cookout Thurday night, but will be joining the caravan once it hits Columbus on Friday.
-
Sorry would love to attend, wish the Phoenix, Arizona Trans Am guys would put something like this together, but Ive never seen any Trans Am events here, did go to a Pontiac Show once which was cool, there were alot of TA's there but none said they had ever heard of a Trans Am/Firebird event/club in Arizona.
-
Hate to miss it.. but maybe next year since my car isn't yet ready for "up the block" nevermind trek to Ohio.. hahaha
Have fun and more important POST PICTURES!!
-
sorry, that's a little to far for me! live down here in dothan alabama!
-
Well, like many others, I would love to attend - but I have to be in SC for work Wednesday through Friday that week. It looks like the Nationals are out too. If the SC trip gets cancelled (and that does happen quite a bit) things will change and I'll let you know. Thanks!
-
I so wish that we could make it. I would love to meet everyone, especially Robert and Evan. I hope everyone that makes it has a great time!
-
Sounds like a lot of fun! Unfortunately, its about 100 miles out of the way for me and I would need to leave a day early. I'm coming down from central Wisconsin so its going to be almost 12 hours anyway to the Nationals. Maybe I can do it next year.
-
Sorry, won't be able to make it up from Florida.
-
Brett, sounds like a lotta fun, but my car is in pieces, and won't be ready. Maybe next year!
-
Dude,
I think this is the first thing I've posted here, but sorry to say that I can't make it for one my car isn't done and for two I'm in NM guarding against the MUF (mexican united front). NEXT YEAR THOUGH!
-
IM GAME !!!!!!
-
Brett,
Sounds like a hell of a great time, but like most of the others, I won't be able to join in on the fun. South Florida to Ohio is just a little too far to drive.

:D Thanks for the invite Brett. It does sound like a great time and an awsome idea. We will be attending the Pontiac-Oakland GMC show near Omaha Nebraska that weekend. Maybe next year. Thanks again and have a good one.
-
Sorry, would love 2 but I'm working Thursday & driving/trailing mine to the Nat's on Friday. I may be able to hook up with everyone thru Columbus. I'll be leaving Pittsburgh in the am.
-
I would love to make it but i just bent a push rod (have no clue how it got bent)and twisted a rocker today so it will be 2 days before the parts get here. Would have been a nice test for the new transmission !
plus she is not really looking to pretty right now
-
well thankx for the offer but the ta is not even started tobe taken apart yet for the restore. the iroc is ready to go though. but unfortunatly you guys don't like the iroc. plus the county mounty's out that end don't like me to much. lthankx again though.

:( Hi There!!. I would love to attend one year, but not this year. I live in Northern B.C. Canada.. That is a long drive. Would have to work it into a holiday for next year maybe.. my husband would be game for a drive like that. Im just not sure if I am.lol. thanks for the invite but will have to try another time..
-
Sorry Brett...I can't make it this year...thanks for the invitation...have fun.
-
Hey Brett and Evan, Looks like we're gonna have to eat a lot of meatballs. Anyway, to folks reading this post... I cannot take my Trans am this year either. But, I am gonna drive down in my big ol' pickup and attend this openhouse and then off to the Nationals.
Brett, The company that I work for has decided that it would like to sponser a couple of door prizes. (I get to make those decisions where I work...aint it cool when it can be self-serving!!) Anyway, I'll bring the roll of tickets and two door prizes. I've also decided to personally sponser a $50.00 gas card and of course the meatballs. If the counts gets higher I'll anti-up!!!! My Hoochie said she would toss in a real made from scratch BOSTON CREME PIE... but not for a three count. C'mon folks this would be a great chance to meet everyone and for us to support Brett. Okay...Okay... that did sound like a pitiful attempt at scoring a slice of Boston Creme Pie.
Hope to see everybody there!!
-
Man that would be awesome but i just bought my t/a about 3 days ago and she won't be ready for a year or 2 for anything like that. I hope that it's a good time for all those going! Thanks for the invite though!
-
Thanks for the invitation. The cars ready and we are ready but unfortunately Australia is a little too far to travel. Not that I wouldn't love to. Might make it one day tho.

What time are you guys rolling through Columbus? I'm leaving Maryland at 4 am Friday morning. Should put me in Columbus around 10 am or so. Taking 70 westbound all the way out. See you in Dayton.......
-
Gotta work that night. Anyone heading down on Saturday morning from NE Ohio?
-
Anyone who can can meet up with the caravan in Columbus. We are thinking that Brett, et. all will be rolling through about 11:00 - 12:00. We will be meeting on the north side of Columbus around I71 & I270.
If anyone is interested in that please let me know!
-
okay if not everyone can make the open house/caravan, then we should all be able to do dinner or something AFTER THE SHOW!!!! By the way its not how good your car looks, its the fact that you own a T/A, Im busting balls right now trying to get my 79 done but i doubt thats gonna happen...so ill be taking my 78 ESPRIT!!!!!! Its not even a T/A, but its part of the line, so I say some of you tuff it out and show up
-
Sorry. Not this year. This was our 5th year anniversary and my wife wanted to go to Florida......so the Ohio trip went out the window. She does want to come though...(Brett, she loves your '98 Ram Air).
-
Well your only 3 hr and 49 min away, according to MapQuest so it is close enough.
I dont have my car in driving condition, and cant attend the Nats but it would be fun to come and see the shop and mingle.
I'll have to check the dates and let you know.
-
Hey Brett! Thanks for the invitation and I'm sure it would be a great time. But, as most others, Team Hoghead will not be leaving for the Nationals until Friday morning. Joe, Cameron, and I will be arriving in Dayton Friday evening. The Trans Am Country (TAC) members are meeting Friday night at the Fairfield Inn. If you're free, come on by and visit.
We'll see you at the Nationals!!
-
I plan on bign there.... let me know the details
-
As a moderator for Trans Am Country, I would like to extend a hearty welcome to anyone attending this years NATS. There are 12 of us nesting at the Fairfield Inn off of Millar Lane in Dayton. Most of us are driving all day Friday from all over to get there, we elected for a pool party Friday evening with dinner being carry out from the various food establishments within walking distance. A.K.A "Hooters", ect. Anyone is more then welcome to attend and hang out talking 'birds and cars. Most importantly, have a SAFE trip in from where ever you coming from. See you in 28 days.........

COUNT ME IN FOR THE OPEN HOUSE. EXCITED TO TAKE A TOUR. ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO JOINING THE CHAIN OF TRANS AMS FRIDAY MORNING, AND HANGING OUT WITH FIREBIRD ENTHUSISTS. I WILL BE COMING DOWN FROM ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN, IF ANYONE ELSE IS INTERESTED IN CARAVANING. I HONESTLY WAS GOING TO PASS ON THE NATIONALS THIS YEAR UNTIL I HEARD FROM THE HITMAN. SEE YOU THERE!!
-
Fantastic! What a sharp Formula!!! Welcome to the forum!
-
ALRIGHT THAT MAKES 4 OF US!!!!!
-
Wow, I've never been a fan of 77-78 formy's but your's is just so sexy!
-
Brett, Thanks for the phone call last night and the invite to caravan out there. I will HOPEFULLY already be in Dayton but the time you guys hit Columbus. As I said in an earlier post, Trans Am Country guys are having a pizza dinner pool party Friday night the 25th. Its at the Fairfield Inn on Millar Drive off I-75. You ALL are invited to join in the fun. Then we can all nurse hangovers Saturday in the sun at the airport. Every one have a safe, ticket free trip out there......

im in! My trans Am also might get a new coat of paint before the show
-
I would love to make it but i just bent a push rod (have no clue how it got bent)and twisted a rocker today so it will be 2 days before the parts get here. Would have been a nice test for the new transmission !

You might want to check your rocker arms they may be too tight too tight.
Or valve to piston clearance too tight. To me it sounds like piston hit valve.
-
Right now we will have about 6 to 8 people there on Thursday night including some of the guys local here in my club. We will also have about 15 cars leaving from here Friday Morning, we will pick up another 7 cars about an hour South, and pik up another 4 cars in Columbus. So right now we will have 26 cars in the Caravn. So, if you can make it anytime to meet us here, or even along the way, let me know. It would be nice to see 50 Trans Ams roilling down the road. I will have all of the information with the times and phone number and routes that we are taking posted up soon.
-
Hey Brett,
I'm hoping to make the Nats and I'd like to check your place out sometime but I'm a couple hours south west of Dayton as it is so it would be quite a trek up and then back down again.
Thanks for the invite anyway. Hope to see ya there.
Randy
-
man i cant wait....im trying to get a 2000-2002 T/A to bring up, filling out paperwork tomorrow :D
-
In Australia a Caravan is something you sleep in and tow behind a car. We would call that a convoy or car cruise. Also what do the jelly meatballs taste like? I've never heard of them.
Bet you'll have a great time cruizing to the nationals. What a site it would be. It would be like Trans Am heaven. I would love to see it. Send some photos. :D :D :D :D
Alli
-
I will take some photos..... I also do not know what Jelly Meatballs taste like, but I am going to find out.
-
Thanks for the invite, but I won't be able to make it. I hope things go sooooo well that you guys do it again next year at which time I can long range plan to attend. Have fun.
-
Depending on the weather, we are going to try and come up. Since we are not taking the 98 T/A to Dayton, we might drive it up there. The wife said I oughta take my Grand National up for a ride.
Brett, I forgot the name of the guy with the grey T-Type who was at the dust off in May, but will he be there? If he will be, maybe I will bring the GN.
I am interested in the Jelly Meatballs too!? (I think)
-
Yes, Russ will be there.
-
about two weeks left i know theres more than 31 people on here.....comon
-
"I got a long way to go & a short time to get there"

Evan you are getting all psyched up for the Nats...
So far after reading this post I have you getting the following new items for the Nats:
1) A new T/A 2000-2002
2) A new Screamin Chicken Tatoo
3) TBA (Come on man.. whats #3 gonna be???)
I really wish I could come up, I hate to miss it.. but I don't think me in my 2001 VW Passat would look too cool with the Trans am convoy!
The only thing I am thinking about trying is flatbedding my car up to Brett and kill two birds with one stone... but thats a long shot at this point....
PICTURES!!! WE MUST HAVE PICTURES!!!!!
Have fun....
-

WHATS PREMIUM GAS GOING FOR IN OHIO, OR SHOUDN'T I ASK? THAT WOULD BE ONE HELLUVA DOOR PRIZE IF BRETT COULD GET ONE OF HIS VENDORS TO DONATE A $10 GAS CARD, I MEAN $20, NO $40!!
-
I'LL TRY TO SET UP A MEETING IN BEACHWOOD, OH. THAT DAY TO WRITE OFF MY MILEAGE & GET ME DOWN THERE SOONER.
IS HAVING A COLD ONE AFTER A 4 HOUR DRIVE OFF LIMITS AT YOUR FACUILTY?
WHATS THE SCOOP ON GATHERINGS WHEN WE ARE DOWN THERE? I BEEN TO THE NATS THE LAST 4 YEARS IN A ROW, BUT ARRIVED ONLY ON SAT & SUNDAYS. I'M AT THE TIPP CITY HOLIDAY INN.
-
$40 will get ya 1/2 tank. Price fro premuim is about $3.20 or so give or take. It changes daily. Having a beer is always welcome no matter how far you drive.
