T/A 6.6 or 6.6 Liter
« on: December 24, 2007, 12:47:22 PM »
This is most likely a dead horse, but here goes!  If your car has the Pontiac 400, then your shaker should read T/A 6.6?  If you have the Olds 403 then your shaker should read 6.6 Liter?  I may have made this to general, but I'm just trying to break it down for my own small brain :P.  I only ask, because I see some T/A's that appear to have the wrong lettering on the shaker.  Plus, If I'm right I get a 12 pack ;D   Merry Christmas.

If you are ONLY talking about the 1979 model year then you win the 12 pack... however for the rest of the "6.6" years (i.e. 77-78) this is how it works out.

1977:
W72-400 = T/A-6.6
L78-400 = 6.6 LITRE
L80-403 = 6.6 LITRE

1978:
W72-400 = T/A-6.6
L78-400 = no shaker decal
L80-403 = no skaker decal

And, of course, 1979:
W72-400 = T/A-6.6
L80-403 = 6.6 LITRE

Actually he just had a typo.

That should read:

1978:
W72-400 = T/A-6.6
L78-400 = no shaker decal
L80-403 = no skaker decal

I myself had a '78 L78 and it had no shaker decal stock.

Well I just learned something new today and that's what's great about this site.  I did not know that there are no call-outs on the hood scoops of base 400 or 403 T/As for 78.

If you are ONLY talking about the 1979 model year then you win the 12 pack... however for the rest of the "6.6" years (i.e. 77-78) this is how it works out.

1977:

L80-403 = 6.6 LITRE

1978:
W72-400 = T/A-6.6
L78-400 = no shaker decal
L80-403 = no skaker decal

And, of course, 1979:
W72-400 = T/A-6.6
L80-403 = 6.6 LITRE

Larry... I don't see anything wrong... Looks great to me. :D

I learned something new as well. I know 1978 was kind of mixed up year... this info helps to clarify the situation. :)
