79 Standard or Deluxe/custom interior
« on: July 25, 2009, 11:14:24 AM »
I have the custom/deluxe interior in my car. But for some reason the standard stuff has more of a "muscle car" styling to it. Deluxe really just looks bland to me.  Just wondering if I am the only one who feels this way.

So vote which you think is better looking and most comfortable. Door panels and Seats.

I voted for standard, but I would go with what came in your car to be honest. It's up to you though. I do like my standard though, it looks very nice.

I just read the entire thread!  Very good work and looks incredible! Are the front seats zipper backs?

No I still cant make up my mind, carmine or black, standard or deluxe!!  Driving me nuts to tell ya the truth!
Me and pontiac man put a set of black standard seats today. The fronts have a zipper back on them, which I am not crazy about. Still have to put the fronts in and drive it a day or so to see if I like em or not. I am leaning towards black deluxe right now though. But its carmine factory.

Carmine's pretty darn cool. My neighbor has a 75 ta with the firethorn or carmine interior and it's really cool.. It's not gaudy or ugly like you may think. It's really clean and comfortable and nice. You may want to get that carmine back in there, it will look really good. Black is nice, but it's hot. Especially when you live in Memphis or N. Alabama, it can get really humid and hot and miserable. I plan on tinting my car for that reason right there. But black interior is hot, keep that in mind. Mine was black originally and I always wanted black so it worked out I guess haha. Anyway, I would go carmine because it will look really clean and nice!

Even your poll has yet to help as it is a tie!! LOL.

As to the best of my knowledge, the zipper backs are original for Camaros.  The Firebird line standard seats and deluxe style seats both have a plastic back that covers the opening.   I personally do not care for the looks of the zipper backs.

I voted for the deluxe style.  I've had both and the deluxe just feels better in my opinion.  But when I redo my interior one day, I will either use 4rth gen seats or the 77 Deluxe " horse collar" seats I allready have.   The pre 78 deluxe horse collar style seats are really comfortable.

Hmm. I thought only deluxe had the plastic back?

Oh well , right now Im decided on deluxe, since my frames arent rusted out, they actually look good and have silver finish on them still for the most part. And my piano wire on the bottoms is still intact pretty good. Gonna cost more for new plastic backs and upholstry but it will be original style that it came with. But I still torn on black or carmine. Silver and black just looks so good. I wish I could find some deluxe seats that were black with silver inserts now that would be the tits!

Well, I have to vote for Carmine deluxe. I think the red really pops with the silver.  Silver on red with red decals is just..... amazing.

Nice. I gotta find someone good with photoshop to do some work for me!

BTW that car has molding down the sides of the doors. Mine doesnt, I wonder if it were removed when the car was painted once. How could I find out if I should have it on mine?
