Opinion on a 76 (Lots of pics!)
« on: August 22, 2012, 03:55:51 PM »
I am possibly going to look at this car, depending on what members have to say. It is 9 hrs away.

He told me it has had smoke damage.  Not fire damage.  He also thinks that the odo is correct at 46ishK miles.  New paint that was crushed glass blasted before application.

What do you think the value is of this car?

What exactly is smoke damage? I'm with squirrel, low 20's would be fair, and any big shop would ask more than that

More details...

Stock exhaust.

He said this undercarriage looks like brand new.

I am giddy with expectations....

Leaving early Saturday morning with a U-Haul trailer to go see it.  8 hour drive.  One way.

The drive I am not looking forward to.

If his descriptions are accurate & his explanations are correct I am in a position for a good deal.  I just hate driving mucho hours & find out that the car is not what has been represented.   Time will tell.

And speaking of a good deal, since the final dollar haggling is not complete, I will reveal the price when I get back...

Wish me luck!

Stan

What happened to your project stan? Just wondering

Good question.

Being in the agriculture business I have no time to work on big projects during the growing season.  Winter is my time to "play".

I have come to the brutal realization that:

A) For me to finish my project it will take more money than I can buy this one for.

B)  I am almost in over my head.  In some ways I think I am sucking air through a straw underwater.  Not all the time, just sometime.

C) I am losing motivation on this current project.  Even though I have spent WAY more money than I will EVER get out of it selling as a project.

Hope that answers the question...

Stan
