Topic: What color Bird on a Black 79 ?

Just got on here on the forum a couple of weeks ago when I purchased my new 79. You guys have been really helpful with some questions I've had. What was the bird colors for a 79 TA in 1979. My car is black and below is a pic of the bird that is currently on it. I don't believe it was the original and also this one wasn't applied very well. Also looks like when the car was buffed someone hit the bird in spots. In your guys opinion what is the best color for black? I always liked the german type script also for the TA's. I believe it wasn't on the 79's but I guess they would look ok? Anyways if some of you could post some pics of your color variations on a black car I would appreciate it. Here's mine currently. I have ordered the buildsheet from PHS. I know it was black on black. Thats why I bought the car. It will be hot here in St.Louis this summer !

If it's an SE, there's a multi-colored gold decal per the attachment.  All the other black TAs I've seen have the same color as yours.

Yes thats what I was going to do. Just wanted to see if anyone had any pics of any other color on there black car other than gold or the color I had.

I saw a pic of one somewhere that was black with the blue bird on it.  It looked pretty good.  I'll see if I can find it again.

It was a Turbo Trans Am but you get the idea.  It was at Texas Trans Am Service's website.

Brett has a pic of a black '79 with the blue bird at that link. I've also seen one with the red/orange bird, but it had red interior to compliment it. Personally I like the one you're got best.

depends no the decal, if it doesnt shred up and comes up in only a few pieces then its easy, if it shreds like it tends to do pain in the a**...then they make a tool like a giant eraser that goes on a low power air powered angle grinder, takes it right off but it will make a mess.
