really? so they wouldnt work? i figured they would since it uses virtually the same header panel as the other sealed beam cars i would have thought for sure thsi would be an easy find. i've considered it but building a y82 this leaves me with no options aside from factory unless its wheels that i can unbolt and put the stockers on it.

  I called year one and talked to the guy who made the custom headlight panel(forgot his name now) about a year and a half ago. He went to stillen.com and got them. They got the ones that have the blinker in the same headlight panel. These are not custom made lights for the T/A. He said it did take alot of fab work to make the grill insert fit right so there wasnt a huge gap around the light.

So making that bezel around the light wouldn't be too hard would it? Just take the bezel around the 79 headlight cut it and lengthen it?

  He said if you know how to use fiber glass then it wouldn't be too hard. he said the hardest part was the also the housing for the bracket. he said lots of cutting. Im going to wait until I have new grills so I can practice on my old ones. Could turn into a very expensive process

How would you cut it to mount them on the front?

Well you have to take the grill insert out and the fiberglass housing behind the actual lights themselves has to be modded for the new bracket that comes on the new light. The grill insert gets the little skinny piece cut out and the rest gets sanded down to the bare plastic and then you have to fiberglass the hole completely shut then using a template cut the hole to the size you need for the new light. These are the directions he told me. If you think of an easier way to do it try it out. I have a broken 77 grill I may try it on. Really for me its a matter of getting everything else on my car working right so I can do this and not be wasting money on something I dont really need. Would be cool though.

I found  this look alike on ebay the other day . I really like the way YO redesigned the bird . I also like the smaller amount of gold they used in the grills .

  No Problem. I really had to fined out for myself when I first saw these cars so after a lot of phone calls I got ahold of the right people. He said wiring was easy though.

 Not a bunch. Those arent new griils. From what the guy said they had to make them. Maybe they found an easier way of doing it after the first ten cars were made. He said everything was fabbed. Lots of man hours.

This headlight looks like it has a piece that isnt fiberglassed around the light

It looks like a molded piece of plactic that they made for the light to fit into.  Then the whole assembly get installed into the grill.  Just my opinion.  Your right it does not look like fiberglass.  

Also, I used to have those lights on my '98 Z71.  I remember paying a whole lot less for them.  Like in the range of $150.  I will try and find out where I got them from.
