Ah... the 10th Aniv car had a AM/FM ETR Stereo 8 Track with a red
display. THe cassette version of the radio would be incorrect.

I have a ETR AM/FM/Cassette unit thats got yellow display for the 80 Vette. So that would be correct. Yes it is a hard unit to find but you do come across them on Ebay every now and then.

i'll have to just keep my eye's peeled then.

I don't have a TATA but I have found a faceplate in the car I bought , it measures 4 1/4 x 1 7/8 part # on back is 10001246 does anyone think it will work with a oem am/fm cassette It looks really small compared to the face of the radio shown

Get that checkbook ready, they don't come cheap!
Although this one has the Yellow Display, this is what it will look like.

wonder if anyone can change the lighting from yellow to red?

Wonder if anyone can change the lighting from yellow to red?
Yes, it can be done. The challenge is to find the "Red" display board or letters. I have a couple contacts that did warranty work for GM when it comes to these units and they have not seen any in years. The problem here is not just the "Letters" but the other lighting that needs to be changed over as well, for example, the "FM" LED light.
However, I have seen people take a thin (1/8 ot 1/16) piece of "Red" Plexiglass and put it behind the faceplate just in front of the letters with "Okay" success. It does work, just not as bright as it should be. That "Red" lens repair tape does not work at all.

They are both retired, I just visit with them from time to time.
However, I use John from Delco Repairs out of San Antonio.

Yes they can be changed to red...but the radio would have the wrong part # and become a clone.

Part # 16009432
Model GM 2700-F
Pictured below is the correct radio for the 1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am.
It does look like the one in the previous post, but the correct version has 6
control knobs and the Delco logo is on the left side. Also the internal electronics
are totally different than the newer 1980 Model.
