Alright, he said NO to my $17K offer.  He said he had $17,500 into it.  So I offered him $18K shipped.  Now I am just waiting on him to answer.

Now that you point out those things, I can see them as well.  I never noticed them before but like I said earlier, I don't know what in the world I am looking for "in detail".

You might get some eager help in that department..we do have some members here in CA that may be able to help.
Well lets hope someone sticks their head out and says "pick me, pick me"!!!  If someone would go look at it and go over it, I wouldn't even bother flying out there, I would just buy it and have him ship it to me.

That one looks pretty nice, too.

You might wanna' make a post in the "general discussion" area asking for local help looking these over.

But, Brett might not want to actively help find me a car.  I just posted the thread to allow anyone who was willing to participate in the finding of the car to do so.  If he wants to find me one, great, I would appreciate it.  If he doesn't have time, I understand that too.   Or.......did I misunderstand what you were saying..... and you are telling me that you feel like Brett is telling me to BUY THAT CAR NOW!???

There are a lot of smart people on this forum when it comes to Trans Am's. All you need to do is ask for help and they will come out of the webpage-lol! Brett is a very smart man when it comes to these cars, don't be afraid to ask him or anyone on this forum for help. Everyone here loves these cars, so you are in good company.

The one that I originally posted here from eBay was looked at by a guy from these forums.... 72blackbird (Geno).  He looked the car over for me.  I donated to his personal T/A for his trouble.  He indicated that it was a pretty good car!

The "BADS" that he found were:
1)  Rear seats fabric not stretched tight enough and need to be tightened up a little
2)  Tach not working
3)  Breaks need adjusted (seller agreed to adjust)
4)  Power locks not working (took $500 off the price for this & tach)
5)  Small oil leak from cover (seller will fix)
Everything else was pretty much as described and as seen in the pictures.

That's a good plea-LOL! Continue your search on e-bay motors, yahoo autos, etc. Meanwhile, post a car wanted thread on theis forum in the appropriate area (Home Page shows you) Let everyone know you are looking. There was a 77 Y82 car near me that was on e-bay, bid was at 15k, not sure if he sold it but I will check into it for you. We are a friendly bunch! Some are a little nutty at times, but all in all good people!

I looked at that 78 california ebay car.  Im kinda picky but when I saw the interior I got sick.  the seat covers are wrong the door pannels are a crapy reproduction the dash looks like its got one of those cheapy plastic caps on it the dash is silver the steering wheel looks like crap and is the wrong color the engine compartment was a disaster I would run from that car as fast as I could

Did you look at it in person?
For me, the things you listed are true.... however, most of that is something several hundred bucks should cover....yea?  Would you mind showing me pics of your TA so I can compare what something should be like?  I haven't looked at that many really nice T/A's so I am just going off what I see and feel is "right" and what "works".
