1977 trans am pontiac 6.6l 4 speed
« on: March 31, 2019, 07:34:08 PM »
Hello Everyone. I have a 1977 trans am with the Pontiac 6.6l with a factory Borg Warner 4 speed. We are in the process of changing out the carrier in the rear end and are going from a 3.23 gear ratio to a 3.42. I have read that in 1978 that the gear ratio for a 4 speed car was 3.42 not 3.73 as in my car. my question is does anyone know what speedometer gear/gears would be in the manual transmission in a 1978 TA with the 3.42 gear ratio. Thank you for your time. Mark

Thank you AusFormula. I was checking on my phone and can't access the site as well as on my computer,  also i see they moved it to the tech forum. I am a newbie at this site so sorry for the late reply.  I do appreciate your time on this. What exact documentation did you find this? I have been looking on the web to no avail. Thanks again. Mark

No dramas, fee free to double-check all those details, I'm not heaps familiar with the manual box versions but that's what the manual lists.
