Yea, I was lost too. I read it like 3 times and couldn't figure if it was
a question, a for sale intro, or some philosophy.

I've kinda stopped joining in what's it worth threads, because it's
such a hard thing to peg usually. In the end, it's only worth what
the next owner will pay and the market is a bit soft right now.

I, like a number of folks, do know about what they can usually buy
certain specific examples for... but that isn't the basis of the hard
to qualify "worth" expression.

I think I know what Dave was trying to say. I go a little to the extreme on mine... I would not sell my car for $100,000.00. It is not worth even $20,000 in the market, but it is worth it to me.

Id sell mine to anyone with the right amount of cash at the time. Each car has a different price, but another can be bought.

Thats a great way of looking at it, a car is only worth what someone else is willing to pay, i watch Ebay Uk all the time, i see far less Trans am's and birds hitting the Uk market than you guys and i watch all the cars that i consider just too expensive, sit and remain unsold, some cars are priceless to their owners and others consider them to be junk.

I never bought mine for profit or value, i bought them for me.

I understand exactly what you are saying, I really do.
But if I were to play the devil's advocate, what if someone knocked on your door with $100K in cash for the car? Would it really be that easy to say NO?
($100K would buy more cars, a degree of financial security, debt relief, etc)

I never bought mine for profit or value, i bought them for me.

Very well said mate...and the easiest route to happiness with your car  :)

^^^^ That and financial ruin LOL.

If you want to make money out of cars you dont get attatched to them and you never " drive the stock " , i know, i was a self employed motor trader for many years before the tax people here interfered....... thats a story best told over beer.

English customs and excise knew everything about my life, where and when i bought and sold from etc etc etc..... very big brother.  ( GITS )
