Just a brief update, I've received the body bushings, sway bar ends, shocks and the front springs but still waiting on the rear springs and subframe connectors to arrive from PTFB.  Orders been placed for 1 1/2 months so I'm getting a bit impatient at this point.

Those are the exact rims and tire combo I was gonna do on my '70 Formula but decided to waste money on other things and redo the rallyII.  Looks real sharp!!!
Rich enough to own a TA, too poor to keep'm all ;)

Heard from Dave today, subframe connectors are in route and he hopes rear springs will be coming from supplier by end of month.  Sounds like he is having all types of trouble getting steel parts, whether that be sway bars or springs.

Got out last night to start working on the body mount bushings.  The caged nut drivers side just behind front wheel let go so I guess I'll be pulling the inner fender to get access.  The other three mounts on the body broke free okay.  Hopefully get some free time this weekend to make more progress.

Wow I have to keep in the loop on the restoration threads  .I can't get over how cool those new wheels look on your T/A 
I had a red 80 Turbo ,and yours sure reminds me of it

Been extremely limited on time to work on my TA.  I started working on replacing the subframe bushings with the solid ones and as luck would have it, the driver's side nut near the rear of the front fender broke free of the cage and spun on me.  Attempted to pull the inner fender to get in there and was having no luck.  I finally cut an access hole and was able to get a 1 1/4" wrench onto the nut.  Even with liberal use of penetrant, I couldn't get the nut to break free, finally the bolt broke.

I now have all the solid bushings in place.  As I did this project I found a prior owner "wedged" the bushing so there was no bushings between the frame and the radiator support.  I'm a little low on shaker to hood clearance with the 455 Olds so I put the PTFB bushings in using the full height option.  That ought to allow me to use a bit taller air cleaner.

The prior owner definitely put in some tall front springs and as the TA sits now it is way high in the front.



I try to do as much work as possible on my old vehicles but I'm awful low on free time and want to be driving so I've taken the TA to have the lower control arm bushings replaced.  While they are in there they will replace the front springs and shocks and then also do the rear springs and shocks for me.  Will also have them go ahead and do the front sway bar bushings and links.  A day job for them that would have taken me much, much longer to do.

Hope to pick the TA up this evening with a major attitude/altitude adjustment.  Can't wait to see how the GT suspension feels.  Gonna be totally different going from skinny front tires to these tires and a much better suspension system.  Pretty excited!

When they do the front suspension and put the new springs and bushings in you might want to have them leave all the bushing bolts just a little loose and drive the car around the block so it can settle then have them tighten them up while the car is sitting in the ground.
Rims look good.
I put Dave's comp kit on my car along with the upper and lower control arms front and rear springs, adj. shocks, sub-frame connectors and solid body mounts and I have to say the car handles GREAT! What a difference in the feel of the whole car when driving. I think your gonna like driving your car even more when it's done then you ever did before.

Thanks for the tip.  Looks like it should be ready tomorrow - they got started a little later than expected due to some other jobs but that is no problem - in less I get back from a day trip late - then I won't get to pick it up until Monday.

I love the honeycomb wheels.
Everyone has the snowflakes..which aren't bad...just something about the honeycomb I like.

I dig both styles but just really thought these would work well, I'm very pleased with them!

Was able to pick up my Trans Am this morning and am very pleased with the suspension.  It is definitely a firmer ride with the GT suspension and solid body mounts but that is fine with me and is what I wanted.  Ready for some good seat time.  Looks like the drop is about 2 1/2" up front and about 2" in the rear.  I expect both to settle a bit.

Got a nice complement when I was out taking photos, funny that never happens when I'm driving my daily driver  8)

Anyway, here are two shots showing before and after (the before shot is flipped so the side view is consistent)

Really like the tires and wheels - sure bets the heck out of the big and littles that it had when I bought it.
