I noticed over the weekend that my alternator was running extremely hot - so hot that it was still very warm 12 hours later (with the battery disconnected the whole time) - quite a bit warmer than the engine. I took it to Advance Auto - they checked it out and said it was working fine - so I have 2 questions.
How hot should an alternator get? I've never really paid too much attention to it before.
If I do decide to replace it or get it rebuilt, does anyone have any suggestions. None of the normal suppliers (Performance, Year One, etc. seem to have an exact replacement - and I kind of wanted to stick with a Delco product.
Thanks.
