hexagon 79-up.

Are you sure the WS6 and 15x7 snowflakes in 79 sis not still use the stainless round caps? my WS6 Wheels have some nice NOS  caps, not the newer repops. I always though the TATA used the hex caps in 79, but the other wheels still used the nicer round caps.

While we're on the subject, I'm having some trouble deciding what to do about my wheels.  They look like they've been painted, and I know that at some point I'll restore/repaint them.  However, I'm looking for a little bit different look.  I'm thinking either gold GTA wheels or buying Rallye IIs and masking and painting them gold.  What do y'all think?

Gold 15X8 turbos, with a gold hood bird and se stripe kit, I remember seeing that combo in person on a lot when I was young, and it still sticks in my head as one of the best looking TA's I can recall.

You're right, J-Train.  I have two 79 4-speeds, both with the round steel caps.  He has a TTA, and I had it on my mind that he was asking about turbo wheel caps, which started in '79.  But the '79 snowflakes got the steel caps.  Good catch.

So then what about '81 Snowflakes?  Hexagon, since they started using them on the Turbo rims?

I have never seen any 80-81 with factory round steel center caps.  There may have been, but not to my knowledge.

I agree, last year for the round caps was on 79, only the 15x8 and 15x7 snowflakes, all snowflake wheels after that had the hex caps.

Now can anyone confirm that the ORIGINAL hex caps were all plastic? I know the repop ones are chrome plated plastic.

IMO since you asked, I like the rally II idea myself with painted inserts, not gold, but the color of the car.  ;)  I think that would look different but continue with the theme of the car.

I found a pic online of an orange(ish) car with the Rally IIs painted orange(ish).  I don't know...
