"Super" Chevy??
« on: April 19, 2010, 02:13:20 PM »

This past Saturday, we took Dirty Bird to the "Super Chevy" show at VMP.  We're happy to say, the quickest GM-powered car there was NOT a Chevy... (:-

Dirty Bird (Injun warrior name "Dances With Elephants") put down a 4.28 @ 165 (1/8 mile).  The closest Chevy was one of the "nitro coupe" exhibition cars, a pre-war Willys body sporting an 800 CID BBC with 3 stages of nitrous. The best they could manage was a 4.46...

My first visit to the "Chevy show", I was surprised. There were far fewer 7 and 8 second cars than usually show up for the Pontiac races.  Lots of 9, 10 and 11 second cars... I didn't see a single "door car" in the 7s except the "nitro coupe".

Now they've seen the "upper crust" of GM performance!

Anyone not familiar with Dirty Bird is invited to visit our website and read all about him!

Yah, it's got a Hemi (3 so far!!)

Congrats to Bill King of Burkeville, winning the "money" in the foot brake class with his '87 T/A, with a CVMS 406 small block in it!

TNT/A,

"Super Chevy" is a "tour" of sorts, going to larger tracks around the country featuring the local Chevy "hot dogs".

For the record, we ("team Dirty Bird") have no illusions. I'm quite sure there ARE many Chevy-powered dragsters out there that can run with us or better. We just haven't seen them yet. But just MAYBE, the only "big budget" Chevy teams are in the "pros".... We all know how a Chevy boy squeezes a buck... (:-

When I pick up my motor from Jim's shop this weekend, there will be another CVM powered T/A out there looking for prey. Sure, its an Olds 403, but it was done RIGHT !
