diff. fluid type ?
« on: October 28, 2013, 10:20:14 PM »
I have a 75 Camaro 308 posi in my 76 F/bird and would like to change the fluid again . Would Lucas oil be o,k. with a posi additive or is there a better choice ?

Can't beat Lucas products in my opinion. I use a lot of their products and have never had any issues.

I know that Lucas diff fluid has the limited- slip additive in it already, but I still add the GM/ ac delco limited slip additive to my posi unit when I change the fluid.  I have had increased chatter when I do not add it no matter what oil I use.  With the additive, I have no chatter whats so ever.

I just get a good brand of 80w90 gear oil (GL-5) and a tube of limited slip additive. The rear end capacity is 4.25 pints, so that's 2 quarts of gear oil and 4 oz. of limited slip additive. I've been using CRC's Equa-Torque additive from Pep Boys with no problems.
