72 GTO - Ruined?
« on: May 20, 2010, 12:23:25 AM »
I saw this car while crusing ebay. And I was just about disgusted with what I saw. They say in the ad that it was made for a music video. Why would anyone decrease a cars value by doin this to it.

The girl is cute though  ;)

She is HOT!  The car, not so much.  The interior has got to go but the rest aint that bad. IF you like look at me green!   Better then that jacked up Trans Am that has been posted.

I agree, the car isn't that bad, except for that horrible looking dash.

I don't mind the paint too much but those rims and that dash look terrible.

70 grand invested? 70 grand wasted more like! You'd have to get it for 10 just to be able to return it to 'normal'!

The girl and the car don't do much for me, but I could get used to both if need be.

very easy to do. all high end shops , all built out of house.  paying any ware from 40 to 75 bucks per-hour + parts and rework.

a friend of mine has a 69 custom firebird , all out of house. hes at 60k in it now and its not done yet.  I told him hes nuts.  it may be at the Nats this year.

It's all about what you can afford to pay.  I'd love to do a frame off on the '76 - I just don't have the knowledge.  I know I wouldn't put $60K into a custom car, let alone an all original less they're going for that amount or more.

Realistically though, you ought to be able to blast the frame/underside for what, a grand, if it's in decent shape.  Problem is you don't know what you'll get into so it invariably costs you more than you thought.  Paint/body, wha,  5K to 7K.  Engine is what, 2K to 15K  ... it's all what you want to do with it.

I can't comprehend what is in these $60K/$70K numbers  ... it's got to be all new parts and top of the line labor and workmanship.

if my 77 were in a high end shop right now with the work I did to it so far I would be half way there, easy.
