Has anyone successfully installed a set of Doug's headers on their 78? I was just looking to see if anyone could tell me if they really are "bolt on" as the manufacturer claims. I have heard some nightmare stories of people having to heat and bend header tubes to get them to fit properly and I would like to avoid that, if possible. Doug's claims that theirs will go in with no modifications. I recently had a friend install a set from Doug's on his 2005 Firebird and they did go on with no modifications, no hammering, no heating. Just jacked the engine up, installed, and lowed the engine back into the mounts.
Also, any tricks to getting the factory manifolds off without breaking a bolt? I have the factory manifolds on the factory heads. The manifolds definitely look like they have been on their for 37 years. Bolt heads are pretty messed up from corrosion.
Any advice would be great! Thanks!
