I bought an 1981 NASCAR Turbo Trans Am, one year old at the time (in 1982), and it had the Goodyears.
I bought a 1981 Special Edition Turbo Trans Am, and it came with the Uniroyals.
I have owned other 1981 Turbo Trans Ams, and Special Edition Trans Ams, and they both came with either tires.
So, I would guess either would be right.
Your build sheet would tell you.

THE FACTORY USED BOTH TIRE BRANDS IN 1981 so it would be your choice on what you wanted to buy.  btw: Original tires are only original once....and are put on when you buy the car, after that they are replacement tires. Here is my findings that indicates they used both brands of tires as one brand is clearly is not designated but tire sizes were.

You can read it for yourseld at http://www.2gta.com/1981ta.html

And the Firestones that they put on my car were only defective once.  The second set I got for free from Firestone weren't defective.  Do you know how great a feeling it is to go buy tires after roughly 10K miles and have the tire guy tell you the tires are defective?  I said "what does that mean?"....he said "you get four new tires, free".  Then he asked about the spare....I had that crummy space saving tire.  He said it was a good thing I came to Firestone because Goodyear would have loved to sell me a new set of tires.  I wonder how many people didn't cash in on the defect?

The Nascar Version and the Indy Version were two different years.  The 1980 Pace car was the Indianpolis 500 and the 1981 Pace Car was the NASCAR.
