looks like a nice TA.    it has standard seat covers in a deluxe car.   the column should be tan in a tan deluxe car,  blk column and seat belts are standard.    correct me if Im wrong.

but 14 sounds about right.  you got a good deal.

if the lacquer is checked, its had a paint over at some point.

The Column should be black. All T/A's had black steering columns that year that I've seen. And the color coded seatbelts were an option. Didn't matter which interior. Also, the seat covers are deluxe. The standard looks similar on the bottom but would have a horizontal stitching across

And I got it for a good bit under the 14.  I was wondering about the paint...if it had been repainted.   I can get in touch with the original owner who had it up until a few months ago and find out for sure.  The second owner only had it for a couple of months.  Well, if it's already had a repaint I wont feel bad doing the same at some point.  If it were original, I'd be reluctant to do it.

Not sure re your question about the std or deluxe interior.  The column is black and the seatbelts are tan.  I'm eager to search out the build sheet in the next few days to see whats going on there.

OK ,  must be an option then in 77.  my 77 parts car was red deluxe interior,  red belts and column.

my 79 red standars had a blk column and belts.  and my oyster 79 deluxe had oyster belts silver column to go with the dash

Good to know.  Like I said...this TA stuff is all new to me.  I'll be digging around here for info and attempting not to ask the questions that have been addressed a million times already.  I just got "educated" on the 77 Camaro I got in Jan.  Now on to TAs.

I just painted a TA that had the same problem.  the checkes go all the way to the sealer on the original paint.  it will all need to come off or it will come back threw the next paint.

Yep, it was really nice.  It's never far enough when you're driving something like that.    Thanks for the encouragement!   :)

Hmm.. all the 79-81's I've seen had matching columns. Deluxe or standard. And all the 77's I've seen had black columns. Maybe I'll look into this a bit more.

Yikes!  So the original paint and the paint over need to come off?  I don't guess I'll be getting it done any time soon but I'd like to know what to expect and start searching for someone qualified to do a top notch job when I do decide to do it.  I'll be interested to know when this was done.  I know it sat garaged from 93 or so until late last year, so it would be at least that old.
