Where are you from? Introduce yourself!
« Reply #3765 on: August 12, 2015, 06:09:48 PM »
Hey guys,

So I am located in Toronto, Ontario and I have been a Trans Am owner since I was 16. This year I decided to make a little video that pays tribute to the car that causes people like us to make forums like this and connect. Watch it if you like, if you share it that would be great. Video Link: https://youtu.be/4OWsqE0i3sw This is my car and it was given to me by my dad and he has had it since he was 16 himself.

Thanks,

#TAmOh

Hello, I am Henry. I live in Maine and I started with a '77 formula i bought off a trucker in 1988.  Went onto the Army for a decade, car sat in my parents back yard and then garage for the whole time. Was not driveable upon my return! It currently sits in my garage, disassembled. I had the body work and paint done last year professionally and the motor rebuilt as well, so its slowly going back together. About 4 years ago I bought a '77 SE driver out of Florida, pretty good shape. Has the 403 in it, automatic. At that point I figured 2 was enough but I ended up buying a '71 formula 455 on ebay 2 years later. I wasn't actually looking to buy another one but the price was right and complete 71s dont grow on trees soooo....  had it shipped from Washington State. It sits covered in my yard, on deck so to speak. Somehow I ended up with 2 ram air hoods for it even though it isn't a ram air car, weird how parts just seem to accumulate! So, that was definitely my LAST 'bird of any kind but a neighbor up the road from me had a manual 77 SE in his barn (who knew? up the road for hecks sake!) was moving to Florida and wanted it gone. I offered fair but comparatively low to what folks think these are worth, as it had issues and I suspect he watched too much car TV, but out of the blue he came by, took a look at my birds and made me a counter i simply could not pass up. So now i need some kind of interventional help since I got 4 of them... Cant seem to part with a single one and in all likelihood once I got the second SE going I will be looking for a 5th. Oh, and I will need a bigger garage at some point as well....

Hello ya'll,
I am from Lower Alabama just located a few miles north of Mobile, Al. I bought my 77/78 trans am from  here local. It evidently has sat for several years after the previous owner passed away. Its in need of a great deal of work. But it goes along well with my other car a 1969 Dodge Charger (General lee clone), so i am guess you see where this one is headed...Bandit Clone :)
I am however short the T-Tops currently but do plan on having them installed or installing them myself if I can find the parts to do so within my budget.
First order of business, is to get this thing cleaned up and see if the engine is good. I will be working on it as soon as this rain takes a break.
If this thing lets me i will post a beginning picture of it.
thanks in advance, I will be worrying you guys, because this is where the knowledge is...

Hello Everyone
I'm Tim From South Jersey, I picked up my 1978 Trans AM in 1996. when I picked it up it had 42,000 miles on it and show room, I parked  it and drove it a few times a month, I lost my job and my work truck and in return I had to drive my TA as my everyday car and everything went down hill from there. its time to get her back in shape and road ready, I had 2'' 1/2 exhaust installed along with a set of hooker headers &  I found out one of the lifters was shot and the car was only running on 7 cylinders,  I parked it about 10 years ago and now I'm looking to get the car back up and running, I just pulled the front end down to the timing chain, I picked a COMP CAM w/ chain and lifters, and I'll start my rebuild in the coming weeks, I have past over this site a few times and I liked what I read and heard from people, I look forward to talking with all of the Members. anyway that's the short story of myself and my TA

Hey gang! I'm new to the TA world. I just picked up my first TA, a 68k original mile 1979 Trans Am. It's dark blue w/ light blue decals and interior. It's an auto w/ the 403 Olds.

I'm up here in Oregon. Can anyone point me to any good local sources for parts/information? I'm on the hunt for an original set of 15x8 snowflake wheels and a bunch of interior parts.

I appreciate any advice you have to offer. Thanks!

Bobby

Howdy, from Park City UT.  My first car was a '71 Formula (that was in '77) , I also had a 84 T/A I bought new back then. Always wanted another 70's era TA and found one, delivered two weeks ago 78 ws6, TA 6.6 , numbers matching and a few minor things that need attention, she runs really good and tracks straight as an arrow at 100mph.

Now i fit into the Viagra commercial, a 55 year old guy with a classic muscle car, oh the humanity

Hello

Stephen, I'm 24, and I really like Quadrajets.
77' T/A (autoX project)
Multiple other F-cars, a 77' monarch coupe, and a shovelhead. I miss my Eldorado.
Interests: LS platform anything, post-war Cadillac v8's, Olds v8's, cleavor, and 385 series Ford. Someday Mazda rotaries and AMG v12's.
Location: From north central ND, now going to school in south east KS.
Random car I want to build today but the crippling debt of student loans prevents: beater status 68' Riviera with a 500 Cadillac and a stout T56. Welded full floater rear end with steel wheels and oversize LT mud terrains. Needs cop-style push bar up front w/rally lights. maybe roof lights. maybe winch. reinforced frame and double the stock leaf spring packs. Full length skid plate under drive train. no more than 2 inch ride height increase, must be level with the front. Yes, I have ADD. That or an LS/T56 swapped 89' Mercedes 560sec with the period correct AMG wide body kit.

Cheers.

Hello all,

My name is Paul and I live in Ireland and just joined the forum tonight as I am going to buy my first TA inside the next number of weeks after many years talking about it! I only have eyes for the (I know its predictable!) the 1977 Smokey and The Bandit car, excuse my ignorance about not knowing the exact model number etc. I do know its one of the 'Specials'. I have plenty of questions so I will have a mooch around the forum first and then pop up here and there asking (sometimes) stupid questions as I am new to the whole TA thing so if you see one of my questions I'll say now in advance that any help will be greatly appreciated ;)

I'm Jerry from Mississippi. Had my first TA back in 1978 when I was in high school. Unfortunately my wife and dad sold that car a few years ago while was overseas. Missed that car. Recently bought two more to make up for it. One is a 78 and the other a 79. Both Olds 403 engines. When I bought the 78 the engine was apart and in a truck toolbox, its still there, the 79 still has the engine in it but I am having to reconstruct the carb and vacuum lines on it to see if it runs. PO said it did but it had been a couple of years. Both cars are going to need major sheet metal and floor pan replacements at the least. So I am here to see what all I can pick up to help me get at least one of them back on the road.

Hi, I'm Jesse and I live in Kansas.  Just picked up my first Trans Am ever last week.  It's a white 1977 with red interior.  Looking for guidance and help on rebuilding her.  Thanks.

Hello everyone,

It has been several years since I have been on this site and a lot has changed. I sold my 71 Bird to a local member on this site (Frank) and purchased a 73 Camaro. I've built the car to be a Pro-Touring autocross / road course car and have spent a lot of time participating in SCCA, Good-Guys and Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car events.

I miss my Firebird and am looking for another one! Just wanted to say hello to you all.
