Oil Filter and Long Tube Headers
« on: May 07, 2017, 12:55:56 PM »
Recently purchased my 77 T/A with 400 and Long Tube Headers.  Problem is it has the wrong oil filter on it, and the stock filter will not fit with the long tubes.  It blows oil out of the top of the filter.

Read where NAPA Gold 1522 works because it has a thicker gasket and small enough to fit inside the tubes.

Is this the correct filter or are there any other suggestions?

Thanks!

i have long tube headers on mine and i have not had any issues with any of the oil filters.......other than they get f^$king hot.....so i wrapped the headers and made an aluminum cover for the filter........ but never had a filter that was too big, are you sure you've been getting the right filter? i use a wix filter # 51061

I have long tube headers on mine and I use a 51258 filter and have no problems. That's the stock filter number for Pontiac as far as I know. It fits several years.
