Really 10k? who paays that much, in Utah you can get a fantastic paint job for under $6500

I live in California and I Don't have to pay that for a good paint job... My materials cost me $500 and the the sanding and body work cost me $900 and she looks sweet...

I have a Turino getting both quarters replaced and full paint in and out for $1600 ... I guess i will not be getting these prices when the new boarder fence is installed... Doh....

10k is average. 15k is not unheard of. Between primers, materials, sealers, paint, clears, spray booth time, ect, the materials bill will be 2500-5000. now figure labor at 70-85/hr and it takes a good 100 plus hours to strip, prep, spray , sand, ect , ect all the way to buffing the clear coat. These are excellent, but not top notch( Pebble Beach, AMBR, Amelia Island, ect) quality show jobs. Top notch jobs cost more and are typically reserved for customs and pre-war classic cars. Lesser shops can do it for less, but there could be imperfections and/ or lower grade materials. A build the one local shop did had at least 15k just in primers and paint. this car also took home many awards at the detroit autorama. This is typical of shops in the NJ area. I am not referring to basic scuff and shoot jobs , but stripping down to metal and bringing it back up.

It costs $10,000.00 for a good paint job in Michigan.  Especially if you're looking to get the car painted black.  And that price doesn't include any significant body work.
I took my car to Mentor, Ohio and Brett did a good job for $5600.00 ( 3 years ago ).

$10K for a paint job ... wow.  I can remember paying $1000 - $1500 bucks 20 years ago.  Of course, nothing went down to bare metal back then.

I think your paint job looks great Justin - fuggedabout the rocker, you'll probably never see it.

From the pictures, you can def tell some areas are not perfect, however, 3500 does not buy a perfect paint/body job. At least in my area. If you said 7500-10k, then I would expect better. Overall, it is not bad considering what you paid.

Dude, that's ridiculous... Who would pay that much? Also, yes, you can get a really nice paint job for what he's paying, and under your 7500...

Justin - the car looks great. I doubt too many people will really notice the rockers.

As for paint cost...

Mine was $6800 and it was a sweet deal. Normally costs $10k for the quality job I got. So that price isn't out of whack at all.

Price quotes I got on mine were $10k and up for just paint work. Only cheapies around here are Earl Scheib and Maaco - neither of which will ever touch a car of mine.

I went to a car show today and seen 2 2nd gen birds and I didnt look at the rockers on either one of them. So I doubt anyone will be paying attention to yours either.

From these recent pics you posted I think it looks great !
Can't wait to see a bird on the hood though. I would be tempted to go to a place that had a ploter ,and get one custom designed to your specific taste . White leaves so many options for a bird

Dude - don't beat yourself up over it.  NO car is perfect - not even a new one.

Get it out there and have some fun with it ...
