To heal your eyes, here's my buddy's '79 Z28...we've been doing quite a bit of work on it, she's not there just yet, but she's starting to look really good...we've put blood, sweat, and tears into that car.

That's a good looking bird PA Formula 78! It's refreshing to see something different! :)
-
The 1978s are very good cars.
-
Till next year the car is going to look very different. I just picked up paint for it and hopefully it will have some paint on it till the end of fall, if not it will in early spring. It is going to be Prowler Orange Metallic, which looks similar to sunset orange metallic only has more of a copper look to it. I am finally almost done with the projects around the house, so I can get started on the body work and stuff.

As it is now?
Sure why not.
I didnt know whether that was how it is or how it was ........
-
Here is mine. I got new carpet in it and package tray and took it on my first trip. Now the show was only 2 miles away, I got goosebumps driving it with the tops out. I love this car and when it gets paint and interior done I will love it more. It is a original 85k mile Y88. All numbers match. The only things changed were the water pump, wheels and tires, radiator and cap/rotor/wires/plugs. Plans for a repaint and interior this winter.

I don't mean to get in the middle of this, fellas, but it seemed to me that sir english was replying to pontiacman's post on page 5 (the one where he posted a pic of one of his cars before he got started on it).
Maybe I'm wrong, though...

^^^ Mate your absolutley right, i was wondering how i was going to explain it again LOL
Thankyou.
Sorry Dave.

due to neighborhood covenates the wife said the car went or i did so i made the best choice. besides she said she would pay for the paint job on the 78 when the 77 left and she was true to her word, she paid for it all. so it was the best choice.

This is my first TA. I haven't even moved it yet so no change in appearances. Bought some JP205 primer for it this week and I hope to get the bare metal covered up before I have to go back to Brazil with work. Winters coming and we all know what that means.

RE: Dirtleg Great 1980 turbo T/A project.I think you will do a great job on the resto.
Thanks Dave I am just hoping I can get started on it soon. I have to go back overseas in about 3 weeks and it will be hard to do any paint work when I return without a heated shop which I don't have currently. Plus I have to get all the work done without the wife getting too suspicious. It's a surprise for her. I already know she loves these cars I just had to find one that was good enough to restore with the limited time I'll have available.
I must say reading the build threads on here is quite inspiring. I hope I can do it justice.

Do you REALLY want to see mine?

Thanks Dave I am just hoping I can get started on it soon. I have to go back overseas in about 3 weeks and it will be hard to do any paint work when I return without a heated shop which I don't have currently. Plus I have to get all the work done without the wife getting too suspicious. It's a surprise for her. I already know she loves these cars I just had to find one that was good enough to restore with the limited time I'll have available.
I must say reading the build threads on here is quite inspiring. I hope I can do it justice.
Looks like you're starting with a pretty solid car -- that's the hardest part. Well, that and keeping the whole project a secret. Are you planning on keeping the 301T?

He better, keep it all original please money will be better if you choose to sell and buy a different T/A,or firebird.
-
The plan is to keep it as original as possible. I plan on keeping the 301t in there. I am a turbo enthusiast (currently have 3 other turbo vehicles). I will rebuild the turbo as it seems like the seals may be bad. Expect me to be asking tons of questions.
One of the previous owners went to the trouble to get the PHS paperwork on the car. It seems most parts are available for it so that's good.

My Y88 4 speed....#s matching....79,000 original miles. I bought it 4 1/2 years ago and haven't done anything to it. I've spent plenty on NOS parts to keep it all GM and will start tearing it apart, for its long restoration project, this spring.

The worst part is I don't want to take it too far apart because I like driving it when it's nice out.
So I've bought and sold a few others this year as projects and parts..
Found this 75 in a barn.

Current gameplan for this summer is to get the 1980 firebird stripped down and then sealed in Epoxy primer. Will do the bodywork over that when I get the funds the following year when I sign up for the BOCES autobody program.

Here we go. ;)
My 1st '78 when I first got her.
How she looked before I lost her. :(
(http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b230/SirLDragon/Cars/78TAwhenlost.jpg)
The '77 I had for a little while. Asked a "friend" to keep her for a while until I got storage again and he sold her for parts. >:(
(http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b230/SirLDragon/Cars/06577TransAminShop.jpg)
My '67. Had a lot of rust and eventually self destructed.
My '86 Camaro that went through a lot of Hell with me.

After 1st wreck

An '84 'bird I never really had the chance to do anything with.
And here's those last 2 along with another Camaro I picked up for parts.

I am Originally from Miami, Fla. Joined the Navy in 1982 and have lived in nine different states, Ohio just happens to be were I am stationed at the moment.
I plan to either retire in Fla, Southern Texas or Southern California.
Somewere warm.
But this Midwest area has an extremely very good Car culture, a lot of major shows and cruising happen aorund here, too bad its only 7 months a year.

I would take any T\A up to 1981 ;)
Money is the key, lots of money.
Yeah, theres my problem at the moment :P And you wouldn't believe the prices for a Trans Am here in Norway :S
And unfortunately shipping costs a lot to Norway as well :(
-
sorry to hear that, shipping is very high as we know gas prices.

Hey.....didn't I own 3 of those cars ;D ;)
I owned the 1980 pace car, the 81 SE car and the 99 30th Anv car.
that Harry posted.....the 80 and the 81 are in our local car club , so I
get to see them all the time :) the 99 was sold to someone in PA.
