Hello All,
First post here, I am a long time Y88 owner, bought the car used in 1985, enjoyed it immensely, then sold it to a buddy to buy a mini van in 1990! Anyway, the car sat in a dark storage shed largely for the next twenty two years, accumulating maybe only 1200 miles during that time. I have now purchased the car back from him, and am starting to dig into what needs to be done for me to enjoy the car as a good condition driver. It is in pretty good condition mechanically, interior and exterior. It does have some rust bubbling in the rear quarters that will need to be dealt with at some point. Also, the wheels, while are free of scrapes and scratches, could benefit from reconditioning, which I have been reading about here.
I have a quick question about the Y88 wheels for you experts. The more I read about the Y88 wheels, it was my understanding that all of the Y88s came with the deep dish style 15X8 SE painted snowflake wheels, and that if your car didn’t have those, then you had the flatter style, 15x7 snowflake wheels. Well, that’s what my car has, and through the years guys told me that my car had the 15x7 wheels. And since my car has always had tires mounted on the wheels, I didn't know any different. However, this weekend I took the old tires off the wheels and discovered that my snowflakes are 15x8, though they look like the style of the 15x7 wheels. Curious if other Y88 owners here have this style of 15x8 Y88 snowflakes.
Thank you for your feedback.
