Starting troubles
« on: March 31, 2018, 08:52:58 PM »
Well the sun is shining so its time to get the TA out. Its all stock. 79 TA 403. Car has been sitting for about 8 months. Added 5 gallons of gas   Will not start. No gas in the carburetor if you look in it. If you pour gas in the carburetor it starts and runs about 3 seconds. Any tips or ideas??
 Thanks!!

How old is the fuel pump? It sounds like the diaphragm in the fuel pump may have dried up and cracked in the last 8 months and lost it's prime. I would replace the fuel pump first and see if that fixes the problem. You said it was all stock, so I'm guessing you run a stock fuel pump. Stock pumps are not expensive, if the old one is of any age, I would just change it to be sure. Hope this helps.
