455 rebuild?
« on: August 20, 2020, 11:09:17 AM »
Hi I have a 74'  455 with std bore presently pretty much stock except for edelbrock750 carb, headers, performer intake, crower 60919 cam 1.5 roller tip rockers 6x4 heads with stiffer comp cam springs. It spun #4 rod  and #2 main. I have not been able to determine what caused it yet.anyways, I don't know for sure yet but dont think the crank can be polished to get the light scratches out. For the cost of grinding it I can get a new crank from. So now at the point of probably bore 30 over and deck block. It appears  both a stock(?) Kit and a stroker kit and both around same $ 1650. Obviously this is not a drag car but want a more fun street car. This motor has never impressed me for being a 455 th400 and 3.73 rear. Any suggestions would be great. I
