the actual tank, you would have to drop it,and look ontop of it.  If it is there be very careful, its going to be fragil

front bottom right...... 27n******
drivers side side ........400J
close to the dist........2

I assume these numbers are from the original engine that you have stored, right?
XA would be a valid engine code (180Hp 400) for a '77.
A '77 W72 400 (200Hp) would be WA (manual trans)or Y6 (auto trans).

If you want to verify that the stored engine is in fact the original 400, there is a partial VIN stamping on the front of the block that would match the car's VIN.

W72?  Not all the SE's had the W72 package. Some even had the 403.

Yeah they didnt care much, some of the build sheets didnt even make it on the cars, while some got 3 build sheets. But that is poor placement.

at the very least, you have the original engine!!!! i wish i could say that. so se or not you have a great gift laying in your garage. i'd be happy just to have a 77 w72 motor so atleast its near correct for my car.
