As the title of this thread asks, Red Bird and I live on the extreme eastern edge of Oregon, six miles from the Idaho border. Nyssa is 8 miles north of us, and Adrian is four miles south. Boise is easy to find on the map, and we are about an hour's drive NW of there.
I stuck with my forum name "Thunderegg" because of one unique characteristic about this area. Ages ago this place was highly volcanic, and as a result, nowadays you can go rock-hounding out in the hills and find thundereggs. They are also known as geodes; volcanic rocks that have crystaline formations inside. Here's a pic my brother took from his front window looking west.
I'm also known as "Thunderegg" in an online WW2 flight combat sim callled Aces High. (
www.hitechcreations.com) A very immersive and sometimes intense game, I enjoy it because of the historical realism and the fact that there's something in it for everyone. I'm a member of one of the largest Main Arena "squads" in the game, the Birds of Prey (
www.bops.us), and I have a fondness for the big bombers, especially the B-17 Flying Fortress.
Like Red Bird mentioned in another thread, I always did love his Trans Am. Years ago we commuted to and from Boise in it. The ol' girl always proved to be reliable, and if something was a little haywire, it was a relatively easy fix for my mechanically-inclined brother. Eventually he helped me get my own, and we put a lot of work into bringing it back to life. I'm now at the point where my TA is a dependable runner, with a lot of cosmetic work to be done. It's going extremely slow because I don't have a great income out here in the sticks. This spring and summer, I'm more focused on helping Red get his TA back on the highway since his wife has proved to effectively make $$$ disappear, despite her verbal promises year after year of "Oh, we'll get it fixed.".
(Yeah, right!) I may have pissed her off, but I don't care.
Anyway, that's my intro. Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.
