Nocturnal 79 value
« on: March 26, 2013, 04:25:08 PM »
I have followed this car for sometime. It is in PA and the price has dropped from as high as $18,000 down to present $10,000. Supposedly 69,000 original miles wearing it's original paint and decals. All indications I see look to be accurate.  Below are some pics. I can see (and was told by owner) driver lower quarter panel has surface rust but no holes and metal has been treated. He does not want to paint the car or even spot it so to keep it original. Any thoughts on this car or anyone know the past history or tried to buy it previously and walked away? Says he bought it 9 months ago fro the original owner but is now out of work and reason for selling. Other than the black and gold, this is my favorite color combination.

One of my favorite colors too.....question is how good the paint really is if original. Is it a real WS6 car too? Does he have any documentation from first owner to support that mileage? The interior looms like it could be correct miles. Problem for you is you will quickly have a $15k car (if not more) after you get through shipping it, registering it and giving it the solar gold "personal touch". If only it were closer to help mitigate the work that will need to be done to it.

I know those tires have been on it a long time, when is the last time you saw Polyester on a side wall? Got it down another $1500 to $8500 just now ;D

Honey hush......

Got a pic of the data tag? some of the things that took some looking to find are: fading on the rear spoiler/bumper, ttop seals (looks like lifting maybe on Drv side), dark spot at pass side dog leg, and some dings in driver door. A nice driver and a nice color combo! Judging by the build sheet and window sticker copies taped to pass glass, he might have PHS too.

Owner has build sheet. Confirmed numbers matching drive train and a WS6 with 4 wheel disc brakes. Car definitely needs spot painting but would hope to save 90% of the original paint if possible. Of course I would cover up 2% with a SE stripe kit.

Def a good deal at that price......especially now that you know it is legit. I'd buy a dentless dent repair kit and work on any dings, and spot painting the areas that need it couldn't hurt. And that SE striping would look amazing with that color!

We've all seen worse cars for more money!!

I know that thread.... I had posted that The Nocturne Blue with tan is my fav. color combo and I would even put it above a TATA on my list.....but that was just my opinion.

A few things done include new front springs and gas shocks, rear air shocks, water pump, radiator, heater core, alternator and flowmasters. He still has the original cadilytic converter   Only negative he mentioned is an oil leak from Pan though I suspect rear main seal. I must admit I have made several post of cars for sale And this one this one seems to have had the most positive response. I really need someone to look at it to be sure it is legit. I may have to find an appraiser. I have a problem sending a check with no guarantees

An appraisal would be a "must-do" being so far away. At that price, and if definitely a low mile car, the biggest thing that could get you would be undeclared rust issues. The rest you would probably expect having the background you do with these cars and would keep you in the "good investment" price range.

Perhaps you could do the same thing you did to buy that SE you found in NY?

Owner text this morning and lowered price to $8300 and also offered a BIN on ebay to protect he and I. Not a bad deal in my opinion at all. He also gave me the number to his mechanic who did the work. I will be calling him shortly.
