Random Bolt Identification...
« on: May 19, 2011, 04:36:52 AM »
Hey guys,

The other day I was topping off the antifreeze on my 1980 T/A and bumped a bolt that appeared to just be laying on/in the core support.  The first picture is of the bolt and bushing.  The second is of the hole in which the bolt was in.  Judging by the look of the bolt, it doesn't appear it has every been bolted to anything or had a nut on it?

What is this and where is it supposed to go and what parts am I missing to get it installed correctly?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

that is your core support bolt, it goes right where you got it.  It is missing the nut and I believe there is another half of the bushing that goes on the other side.  Someone correct me if I am wrong, it has been a while since I have torn one apart.

OK great!  Thanks for the help!  It looks like I need to do some part shopping!  I seriously wonder if that thing has just been sitting there unsecured for 30+ years?!  I bought the vehicle from the original owner and it has never been in an accident!

Trans Am Reaper (Bobby K),

Do you have a picture of what I need and what you have?  Price?

Thanks!

If you replace an old bushing with a new bushing and dont replace the otherside yourr core support may sit high on one side.

Thanks guys!

I am a little more confused now!  So the bolt isn't supposed to go where I found it sitting?  I am going to have to pop the hood when I get home and see what is going on!

I'll try and update later!
