I have this sudden interest in 1/18th scale die cast .
Have a 69,73,77 and a few turbos recently .

Heres my question though , I was debating to cut a huge hole in my living room wall and build a display shelf for my collection .
Maybe 3 feet high by 8 feet wide . The most I can embed the display is 3.5 inches and I was going to have it protrude a few inches out the wall as I want to keep it deep so I may be able to turn the models a bit instead of just looking at there profiles .
Going to use ash wood stained black around perimeter and have approx 3 shelves deep . Want to put mirror on the back and LEDs on a dimmer switch to highlight the models .
Now do you think having something like this on the side of a living room wall above a love seat would look tacky? Maybe better for an office ?

I like the idea...you may be right about it being more suitable for the office though (but your house, your call ;) )

I like the turbo die-casts btw

Doesn't look like you use the fron door much.  I had a display like that til my first son was born and had to put them away, not ready to share my diecast cars. ;)

Yes I blocked the front door with the subwoofer . I recently turned my living room around 180 degrees after upgrading from a 58 inch plasma to a 65 inch plasma . Had no choice to keep it centered .
I wish I had a bigger office as I would put them there .I actually like the 3 on the stereo stand now ,but not having them all over the place .
I suspect I'm going to kibosh this idea though

Have you seen a marty yet, they came out with a gold 77, all wrong, wrong decals, w/ a black interior, but it's as close as it's going to t to mine.

There is 3 swap meets soon, those diecast guy's are always there, but I don't recall seeing a marty one, I have a hot wheels close to a marty, but it has some kind of flames on.

My house is only 975 sq ft, and the flat screen is a 65". I sit 16.5 feet from the flat screen so I had to go fairly big .
I ran a separate circuit to run the home theatre system all by itself .20 amp breaker with 12 gauge wire .
I have a network drive in the basement that I stream wave files to the receiver with . 
Running a gateway for programs (a kind of pvr) which has a 500 gig on board hd and a one terabyte external connected to it also . Hd programming eats allot of hd space
